For that, Days of Thunder is nowhere near as bad as many say it is, rather it is a very good popcorn flick that entertains in spades. Plus, even as a non-NASCAR fan, I truly believe it was a great portrayal of racing and racers.

But, sure, the similarities to Top Gun do hurt it because they did just take the same plotlines and re-do them, but since Top Gun is absolutely hysterical and over-the-top enjoyable, so is Days of Thunder. The characters, much like Top Gun, are enjoyable and though quite generic, they are pretty well put together. The racing scenes are intense and very well done. As such, this one is incredibly enjoyable. That is honestly the only difference between the two films. Essentially, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell has become Cole Trickle and a NASCAR driver. The The long-awaited sequel to Top Gun has apparently already been made it is titled "Days of Thunder". Jason, according to The Midnight, is said to "roll with the tide like the wind and sky." As I noted before, Jason Voorhees literally lives in a body of water. The long-awaited sequel to Top Gun has apparently already been made it is titled "Days of Thunder".

The song references "homecoming queens" and people who are "naked in the light." The characters in the Friday the 13th series are often stereotypical high school girls who are sometimes shown in the nude. He "comes alive" "when the music's way too loud," (Jason is an undead villain who is continuously resurrected, and the characters in the Friday the 13th films are often depicted as partying). The Midnight's song Jason is about a man named Jason who endlessly chases something in the night. He lives at Camp Crystal Lake and is often portrayed as emerging out of Crystal Lake itself, after which he chases stereotypical teenage characters (particularly attractive women). Jason Voorhees is the main character in a 1980s horror film series, Friday the 13th. We also know they are interested in the 80's horror film sound (Horror Show EP). We know they are willing to reference 80s-early 90s film (see Days of Thunder, which is a 1990 Tom Cruise film). The Midnight, like all synthwave groups, are known for incorporating 1980's sounds and nostalgia into their music. That said, the lyrics are pretty curious in light of The Midnight's theme as a band.

Obviously the song is supposed to sound like it's about a man in search of love. Does anyone think Jason is about Jason Voorhees (from Friday the 13th), or at least references him? I was listening to the song in the car when my girlfriend pointed this out.
